Massage Therapy Employment - Day Spas

Day spas are a good place for massage therapy employment. They usually pay well and the clients usually tip well. You will be an employee and will be paid a percentage of the services you do.

One advantage of working in day spas is that they usually offer spa treatments such as salt scrubs and body wraps. There is a limitation on how many massages a massage therapist can do in a week, usually 15-20 massages at the most, and still be healthy. Spa treatments are much less demanding on the body and can extend this limitation, and allow you to make more money. Spa treatments are usually expensive and since you are getting paid a percentage of the service, you are paid well for them.

People who go to day spas are doing so to be pampered, taken care of, and to have a spa experience.

The disadvantages of working in this type of environment is that it can be very busy and demanding with long hours and very few breaks. If this is the case, you will have to take extra steps to avoid burnout.
